Another sad thing about how pervasive the "social construct" meme is in transgender circles is that, when its emptiness is eventually laid bare, a lot of trans people are going to pay the price of being conned by their "more enlightened" fellows.

I haven't read many of the responses here; but I have noted an appalling degree of ad hominem and condescension directed at you for having a divergent thought of your own.

I don't think academics like being challenged. I noticed this when I was in college. But getting those credentials doesn't absolve them of the responsibility of thinking. They can't simply rest on their laurels -- not if they're honest, anyway.
