Freedom to express dissent, whether on social media or otherwise, is not the reason for the increase in hate; it's merely an avenue. And such freedom acts as a pressure-release valve for hostility more than as a fomenter thereof (sorry, Socialists).

"Gender ideology," as it is used here, is a theory, not gospel, and, in fact, it is invalidating of transgender people. The notion of being transgender inherently rests on the proposition that "gender" refers to an objectively real or "essential" quality, and that its divergence from sex is the cause of gender dysphoria. The sociological perspective is purely relativist, or used that way; and this delegitimizes the transgender experience, reducing it to delusion, a flight of fancy or mental illness.

Sexual dimorphism is fundamental to species survival; and gender must be the same, because divergence of gender from sex is not survival efficient. That doesn't mean that drift doesn't occur, or that it's a moral issue. Many people are hostile to the notions of normativity in general, because they find them confining and they don't want to be confined. But that's hardly a reasonable perspective.

I thought Socialists were realists. If you really want to support transgender people, stop talking about gender is sociological terms.
