Hi, Sophia,

I had no plans to write or comment again, but your post touched my heart; and, if I can offer consolation, I must try to do so.

When reading your post, I was immediately reminded of a scene from a light-hearted romcom -- with at least one serious moment -- called "Good Advice" (2001). A woman writes a letter to an advice columnist saying that her gay son is dying of AIDS, that she doesn't approve of his lifestyle, but she loves her son and doesn't know what to do. The advice columnist says, "Let go of your anger, and take hold of your son. There will be plenty of time for anger after he's gone."

If ever there were a line to redeem a movie starring Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, that one is it. Forget her non-acceptance, forget the sweets, forget yourself -- and take hold of your girl-friend. If she passes, there will be plenty of time for anger and recrimination after she's gone.
