I know that the vast majority of trans people are going to react to the appearance of what I say rather than the substance. But someone has to say it.

The behavior of people like Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, Chris Plante, Tucker Carlson, etc., is execrable and incendiary. Their version of the truth is deeply colored by personal beliefs; some of them, perhaps all of them, don't even realize it. They think they are arguing, pontificating, from the viewpoint of Truth.

The writer is absolutely correct to call these people out for what they say.

My difficulty is with the fact that the same thing has been done, and is still being done, on the other side. A lot. And hypocrisy is indefensible.

In terms of quantity and intensity, stochastic terrorism coming from the political Left has been an avalanche for years. The Right, by and large, spent most of this time being little more than a punching bag. What is different is that, now, the Right has had enough. After years of feeble protesting, they are going on the counter-attack.

The actions of the Right have their origin in the actions of the Left. If we fail to recognize this, to understand the dynamic, we will see this conflict intensify, like a cyclone, going around and around, building in strength, until it explodes into violence.

There is a way out -- and it is one with something to piss off both sides, which I think is often an indication that it's at least on the right track. I actually think it's a tougher sell to the trans community than it would be to the Right. Frankly, I don't have much hope.

The terminology of the transgender experience is the place I started; once I figured out what the word "gender" must mean, the rest fell into place pretty easily. I've mentioned that already, in a recent reply; so I won't go into it again. But, once you realize that gender is an intangible, you are forced to the conclusion that whether it exists or not is a belief. And beliefs that are widely disputed are not a proper basis for making laws or policy in a free society. That's the sulfur, for the trans side; here's the molasses: It is wrong to persecute anyone for their beliefs. The arguments of people like Walsh, Shapiro, et al., that we are "deluded," become nothing but religious evangels. These men claim to represent "science," when in reality they represent scientism, a perversion of science into religion. Once this conflict is relocated from science, where it does not belong, to belief, much of the intensity passes out, like air from a balloon.

Dealing with treatment of minors is a bit more complex, but not very. If we deal with it appropriately now, it will be much less difficult than if we try to deal with it later. But this is already long enough.
