So, are Pentecostals Christians?
No, I don’t believe they are. Because they teach a theology that goes against what the Bible teaches.
(I don't know how to say this gently; I'm sorry.)
Oh, please!!
I am not a Pentecostal. Very few people would even consider me a Christian. While I believe in Jesus as the Redeemer of the World, I also worship foreign gods and practice what many would consider witchcraft. So, at least you know I'm not coming from a mainline, conservative point of view.
Doctrine is not how you separate wheat from chaff. How you separate wheat from chaff is reality.
For all practical purposes, consider me a witch. A few days ago, I asked to speak to a manager at Walmart, because an associate who was clearly ill had gone above and beyond to help me. I wanted to make sure she was rewarded. A manager wasn't available; but a customer service person came up to see me. When I saw him, it was obvious: the Holy Spirit was upon him. He was a light.
This is this first time this has happened in my life for as long as I can remember. I don't know what this fellow's religious orientation was, or even if he had any; but one thing was clear: God was upon him, and I felt so privileged to have been in his presence.
This is the kind of sign you should be looking for. Be aware, you may run into it in places you've been told it can't be found. I was once told by a charistmatic Christian that she had met a spirit-filled Mormon -- an impossibility, under her theological framework; yet, her experience had been undeniable.
I think Jesus looks at something deeper than doctrine. I think there is something more important than being right.
Consider this, please, for your own benefit.
