There is a distinction that is overlooked by nearly everyone, cis and trans alike, and you may find it relevant in your reflections.

Whether trans women are really women is a matter of personal belief. Like all beliefs, it is an attempt to find meaning in one's experiences, especially suffering. Is it true? Who knows? But, whether it's true or not, we have to live as though it is. We really have no choice.

Society is under no obligation to share this belief, any more than it is under obligation to share any belief. We hope for compassion from society-at-large, as we struggle to live among other people who don't understand us and never will.
