"The ongoing debate surrounding transgender athletes in sports requires thoughtful consideration and open dialogue. While recognizing the importance of inclusivity and supporting individuals exploring their gender identity, we must also acknowledge the impact on the fairness of competition."
It's really not hard at all.
Gender and sex are two different things. Sex manifests physically and is objectively demonstrable; gender manifests psychologically and is not. There is no objective proof that gender, as a quality that is potentially divergent from sex, even exists; it's a belief held by transgender people that helps them find meaning in their experience.
The fact that it's a belief doesn't mean it's untrue; it simply means it doesn't hold the same status as an objectively-demonstrable fact, and that, in a free society, others cannot be required to submit to it.
This last point is the most pertinent here. If gender cannot be demonstrated to be real, then law, public policy and civil rights may not be based on it. Trans girls do not get a free pass to compete with cis girls because they believe they are female. They may be; but, until they can prove it, there is no objective basis for including them in girls' sports.
