"This is why each of us has the right to frame and reframe our desires, lusts, loves, and relationships as we see fit without having to fallback on ill-fitting lexicons. Others may be confused, perplexed, and potentially angered by this mode of thinking because they want to understand, but if they fail to comprehend it is on them, not you. I like who I like, and that really should be the end of it."

Absolutely. (Vision of an intoxicated Katharine Hepburn in "Desk Set" saying, "More power to you!") 😊

I think heterosexuality and being cisgender are the way the human species is designed, simply because homosexuality and being transgender serve no purpose to its propagation. Some people think saying that is the same thing as saying that it's "bad" to be gay or trans; but that's ridiculous. It's obvious that human beings are built to see, isn't it? and there's no moral judgment in being born blind.

Something went awry to make us trans. Maybe our mothers took DES or some other drug during pregnancy; maybe it's genetic; maybe it's environmental pollution ... Who knows? But it doesn't make us "screwed up" or "bad people." We are what we are; and, like anyone with a disability, we have to come to terms with it. But in coming to terms with it, we shouldn't do a disservice to reality by pretending that being trans is objectively value-neutral. It's an affliction; we're stuck with it.

I think a lot of the trouble we are having with the Right these days is rooted in the push by some activists to treat being trans as objectively value-neutral. (Some of it is rooted in them being assholes; I'm not ignoring that.) I can understand why those activists might have done that; but, despite good intentions (or bad ones), it's a mistake.

We are weird; but it's okay to be weird. And we'll never come to terms with the rest of society -- who will NEVER understand us -- unless we come to terms with that.
